·I wrote this song from a thought that keeps returning to me: perhaps our enemies will never learn. Perhaps they will continue trying again and again. Perhaps this struggle will follow us for longer than any of us would ever wish. I pray that it will not.
But beside that thought lives another one — a much stronger one.
There is nothing for us to fear.
History has shown us that no matter how many times people have tried to destroy us, remove us, frighten us or take this land from us, we are still here.
Hineh lo yanum, v’lo yishan, Shomer Yisrael.
“Behold, the Guardian of Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps.”
We are guarded. We have a God, and throughout our history we have seen again and again why our faith has endured. What is asked of us is to trust, to remember who we are, and to continue.
This is our promised land. Others may try again and again to take it from us, but we will defend our people, our children and our home.
Perhaps this too is part of how we speak to the world through these times: not only through survival, but through faith, creation, light and the refusal to disappear.
YOU WILL NEVER LEARN
